Last weekend was the anniversary party for Dunes and Trails ATV Club. Since Timm is the VP, he is in charge of the party. This year, the trailmaster and his committee chose the location...Nellis Dunes. Most members wanted something closer to home they could attend for the day, this is the closest to Vegas to ride.
Good location....bad weather. A cold front came through that weekend so it was cold, windy and dusty. It is the dunes afterall, not much to break the wind out there. There was still a good turn out of members though. Open riding filled member's morning and early afternoon. Games were on the schedule but the wind made it difficult and we chose to opt out of the games.
Famous Daves BBQ catered the late lunch. Thanks to the Kutlesa's for the use of the trailer to serve up the food and keep the sand out of it. Unfortunatly, the wind kept folks from gathering for the meal, instead many headed for their RV's to dine. Gotta admit, you can't go wrong with BBQ! Delicious!
Raffle prizes galore this year. The club voted to spend $1000 on prizes, had almost $400 in donated prizes too. Lots of good stuff...Dutch ovens, camping gear, GPS units, binoculars, and more. Sold lots of tickets, almost covered expenses on the raffles which I thought was fantastic. Better weather and we would have. Still good to gather with friends, have fun, food, prizes and more.
Oh, Sunday...the weather was beautiful.
